About Me
My name is Jakub Staciwa
My friends call me Stack.
Where does one usually begin an introduction? I guess I could give you my background. Originally from Poland, I grew up in the Netherlands in an international community for most of my life, and my academic background is media and culture with a specialization in film. But that is all too common to introduce someone; we all come from different paths that are shaped for us and by us. I guess what I could really introduce myself with is what makes me tick. You see, ever since I was little, I always loved stories; after all, it's how we communicate history, and most of our social interaction is based on telling stories. Some stories are real, some are a little twisted, some are fictional. Some are meant to comfort, some are meant to teach, some are meant to hurt. Yet whatever the story, there is always a part of us or our culture embedded in it. To understand that and to analyze it is what really makes me tick.

Being born into a generation of socio-technological expansion, the likes of which history has not seen since the age of print, is quite an interesting position to be put into. So many forms of stories are being told that it can be hard to quantify and keep up with them at times. For me, my love has been film and subsequently photography. As far back as I remember, it started when I was around 6 years old. My dad would always show me films he liked and grew up on, and it became a family tradition to watch them and then discuss them. When the films finished, they tended to stick around in my head for a long time, and as time passed, I realized I loved exploring everything related to film and media. This also made me more aware of my taste in what kind of genres I was more into. Generally, I have a deep love for most film genres, but the ones that really stick out to me are drama, science fiction, fantasy, action, and adventure.
Overall, I can say that what I search for within film and subsequently media as a whole is quality. In the sense that when passion, understanding of culture (pop, film, media, etc.), and general love for your craft come together, it can create amazing quality projects. That is why I have started the Stack Mediaverse. To share my thoughts on these matters, and to hopefully give back with some of my own original work down the line.

Enjoy and stay true to yourself,

Stack.
